Asset management sector serves more than 10,000 customers
As at the end of June 2022, a total of 97 asset management companies were active in Liechtenstein, according to information presented in a report by the Financial Market Authority (FMA) Liechtenstein on the market development of the asset management sector in the first half of 2022. As per the reporting date of June 30, 2022, the asset management firms served more than 10,000 customers, of whom 83 percent were private customers. In the reporting period, Liechtenstein-based asset managers gained 700 new customers overall.
The client funds administered by the asset management firms totaled 54.9 billion Swiss francs as at the reporting date at the end of June. In comparison with year-end 2021, this equates to a decline of nearly 5 billion Swiss francs, or -8 percent. Negative developments on the financial markets were partially offset by the addition of net new monies totaling around 1 billion Swiss francs.
Overall, around half of the customer assets are managed by Liechtenstein banks. The largest asset management firm boasts client assets of approximately 8.3 billion Swiss francs, which corresponds to a market share of roughly 15 percent.
