Bank Frick awards finance students
Bank Frick has rewarded the two winners of an innovative teaching project for Machine Learning and Crypto Assets at the University of Liechtenstein with prize money of 1,000 Swiss francs. The students on the Master of Science (Msc) in Finance generated the best returns with the cryptocurrency portfolio.
As part of the Innovative Finance Lab founded in collaboration with Bank Frick, the winning team used Machine Learning technology to develop a model (trained using data from 2019 to 2021) that was able to deliver the most precise projections for 2022 and 2023, further details of which can be found in a press release. «We put a lot of effort into winning this competition», comments Sven Klein, one of the winners, before also explaining how the team’s enthusiasm allowed them to learn a great deal from the experience as well.
«In core electives, such as those offered as part of the Msc in Finance at the university since 2021, there is enormous potential to bring committed groups of students into contact with specific topics such as sustainability, the token economy or machine learning in finance, as well as future-oriented teaching approaches», explains assistant professor Sebastian Stöckl, head of the Data Science and Machine Learning course, in the press release. This educational success story is also plain to see for Annemarie Matt from Bank Frick. She is impressed by the «progressive nature of the competition» as well as the «top quality education that students receive in the fields of methodology and blockchain». ce/mm
